Exterior Home Staging - How it Can Help Sell Your Home

Think Outside The Home

Recently, I went to go visit one of our listings we’ve been working on. Once inside the home, you’re met with redesigned floors, new paint, new fixtures, and beautiful interior staging - all of which make a huge difference when you’re selling. However, when we walked outside, we noticed things fell a little short.

With a background in professional landscape design, I helped countless clients across the DMV create visually stunning outdoor spaces. Often overlooked, the curb appeal of a home is honestly one of the most important things to focus on because it is literally the FIRST thing you see when arriving at the home. In your approach to the front door, are you walking on flagstone? A dirt path? Brick? Maybe mulch?

This lead up to the entrance of your potential new home is a key first step (no pun intended) to knowing if a place feels like the right fit for you.

The good news is creating a clean and engaging outdoor space can be a simple process.

Simple things like painting the concrete porch and steps, swapping out a new front door, or hanging window boxes are small projects which make a huge difference. Often times, it’s as easy as removing the screen door to reveal the original front door, which not only looks better but also holds more character. New shrubs, flowers and trees planted around the exterior goes a long way to help soften the often cold materials we use to build homes such as brick & siding. And don’t underestimate the power of a little color! Even if you don’t have the ground space to plant, getting containers & pots to fill with flowers & grasses (for texture) can transform the whole look!

By amplifying your outdoor space, you can generate extremely positive results!

Truthfully, our first impressions don’t come the minute we open the door, but rather, the minute we get out of the car:)
